What is a normal heart rate?
HEART HEALTH
A normal heart rate, also known as resting heart rate, varies from person to person and can be influenced by factors such as age, fitness level, and overall health. In general, a normal resting heart rate for adults ranges from 60 to 100 beats per minute (bpm). However, well-trained athletes may have a resting heart rate as low as 40 bpm.
Here's a general guideline for different age groups:
Newborns (0-1 month): 70-190 bpm
Infants (1-11 months): 80-160 bpm
Children (1-2 years): 80-130 bpm
Children (3-4 years): 80-120 bpm
Children (5-6 years): 75-115 bpm
Children (7-9 years): 70-110 bpm
Children (10 years and older) and adults: 60-100 bpm
Well-trained athletes: 40-60 bpm
It's important to note that your heart rate can increase with physical activity, stress, fever, or other factors. If you're concerned about your heart rate or notice any unusual changes, it's best to consult with a healthcare professional for further evaluation.
